Advertising and affiliate disclosure
lender.nyc is free to read and paid for by advertising. There are exactly two revenue sources, and both are labeled wherever they appear. This page describes them in full, including the things we have decided not to do.
1. Affiliate links
Some pages link out to national lending platforms and marketplaces. Where we have an affiliate relationship, we may be paid a commission if you go on to open an account or a loan with that company. It never costs you more than going there directly.
Our rules for these, without exception:
- Affiliate links appear only inside a labeled block headed “Advertising”, never woven into the body of a guide and never disguised as an editorial recommendation.
-
Every affiliate link carries
rel="sponsored"so search engines see it for what it is. - Any page carrying one shows a disclosure note in the footer, on the same page, without you having to click anything.
- Payout size never sets an order or a ranking. Where a page ranks or orders anything, it states the criterion it used.
- We do not carry payday, tribal, or short-term consumer lending of any kind. That category pays the most in this industry and we will not take it.
- We never receive per-borrower compensation on a mortgage-related product. See the RESPA note below.
Companies we link to or are enrolling with: Kiavi, Lima One Capital, OfferMarket, Lendio, National Funding, SoFi, LendingClub, Upstart, Credible. Program details last reviewed 2026-08-19. As of that date no affiliate program has been signed and no tracking identifier on this site is live — the links carry clearly marked placeholders.
2. Featured directory placements
Lenders can pay a flat advertising fee to be featured in our directory. That fee buys one thing: position. The listing sorts to the top of its section and carries a persistent Featured — Advertisement label everywhere it appears.
- Flat fees only. We do not accept per-lead, per-referral, per-application, or per-closed-loan compensation on any product. On mortgage-related business that is a RESPA §8 position; we apply it everywhere anyway, so there is nothing to argue about at the edges.
- Payment does not change the words. The write-up of a firm is built from that firm's own public site and is identical whether or not they pay us. We do not publish endorsement copy for money.
- Most listings are free. The directory is seeded by our own research. Nobody is charged to appear and no free listing is removed to make room for a paid one.
- Corrections are always free, whether the firm advertises or not.
The commercial terms are on the advertise page.
What we do not do
- We do not collect borrower information. There is no form on this site. We do not run “check your rate”, “get matched”, or any other intake, and we have nothing to sell to anyone even if we wanted to.
- We do not sell leads. Lead generation for residential mortgages can itself require a licence in New York. We are a publisher and we intend to stay one.
- We do not quote rates as our own. Any rate or term on this site is attributed to the company or agency that published it, with the date. We are not a party to your transaction and we do not know what you will be offered.
Reader first, honestly
The reason to be this specific is simple: on a subject where a single wrong number costs someone thousands of dollars at a closing table, being trusted is the entire product. If a page ever reads as though the money wrote it, that page is broken — tell us at hello@lender.nyc and we will fix it.
